Adrenaline

What a week! Mondays are forever a drag wouldn't you think so? So my Monday was like any other: wake up at 7'Oclock in tha morning, get ready for school which starts at 7:50 a.m. and as soon as I walk into my first hour I try with all my might, to keep my eyes open throughout the morning. Finally Lunch arrives, and my energy tank peaks nowhere close to empty. Once again im back in school for the first 15-30minutes and in no time my tank has officially died out, yet I stick through knowing that right afterschool I'll be playin my favorite sport... Basketball! Ever since the week before, my teammates and I have been practicing as hard as we could getting ready for our second match with the Winslow Bulldogs who have always been our arch enemy, we practice as if there's no tomarrow. Tuesday has offically started and we the the Lady Roadrunners are to verse Winslow since the beginning of tha game I saw from each and everyone of my teammates eyes, the determination and fight they were going to unleash. I hear the buzzer go off. Letting both teams know that warmups are over. We gather in a circle right underneath the goal, our hands clutching one another for a short prayer... we then all become silent. I begin thinking to myself. Are we going to win? or are we going to lose? If we win then this would be our second time that the Holbrook Lady Roadrunners have ever defeated Winslow, but if lose we would lose lose all fans and all hopes of making it to state and all hope will go down the drain. Lucky for us it didn't we came out on top! So much hardwork went into our match with Winslow. We would either be down two or up two. The game was going good the entire time, my team was putting it as much effort as they could without any hesitation. It was getting down to the last six seconds of the fourth quarter and the score was tied. Mattea Begay from Winslow inbounded the ball dribbled down the court and through up a three pointer thankfully the shot came no where close to the goal. The game is now in overtime as I stand to the side, watching the ball be thrown up for another jump ball I begin to think to myself once again, this time there was no negativity. We lose the toss but lucky for my teammate jessica paz and I we were able to trap one of Winslows forward/post player and steal the ball for a fast break to one of my other teammate who was down at our end of the court, she was able to finish it off with a layup. The entire OT game ended in victory and it was all thanks to each and everyone of my teammates. All did an excellent job and for my fellow seniors we are proud to say that we beat the Lady Winslow Bulldogs! Not jus once but Twice!

  1. Oh my gosh! That was definitely a great game you girlies put on. & Congrats! I remember the first time we beat them and even then it was unbelievable but game 2 beating them by one must have been even greater! With that said I only wish to have fallen in love with basketball as much as you do and the team as well. So keep up the great work & your heads held high, sectionals are coming up and I wish you much luck on the court Shab.
